Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) made Neymar Jr the most expensive player in history when they paid Barcelona £198 million to acquire his services in August 2017. A clinical forward with pace, skill and excellent dribbling abilities, he is widely considered a future Ballon d’Or winner as well as being one of the world’s best players.
After spending his entire youth career at Santos in his native Brazil, Neymar Jr made his first-team debut in 2009 and was a regular starter for the next four years until he moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2013 for a fee that was eventually revealed to be in excess of £70 million.
In the 2014/15 season, Neymar Jr forged a formidable striking partnership with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, nicknamed “MSN”, as the trio scored 122 goals on their way to a continental treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League. Neymar Jr won a further La Liga title, two more Copa del Rey’s and the FIFA Club World Cup before swapping the Camp Nou for Paris. In his first season at the Parc des Princes, he won a domestic treble of Ligue One, Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue, and was named Ligue One Player of the Year.
