Despite being one of the most controversial players in football due to several on-field incidents during his career, Luis Suarez has consistently proven himself to be one of the best players in the world.
Following his move to Liverpool from Ajax in January 2011, Suarez developed into a formidable striker and won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Player of the Year and Premier League Golden Boot in 2014. Following the FIFA World Cup that same year, Suarez sealed a £65 million move to Barcelona.
Since arriving in Catalonia, Suarez has won three La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey’s and the UEFA Champions League – winning the club’s second continental treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League in 2014/15. He has also been capped over 100 times by Uruguay – for whom he is the all-time leading goalscorer – and won the 2011 Copa America after which he was named Player of the Tournament.
