The statue of Thierry Henry outside Arsenal’s Emirates stadium is a testament to the contribution the Frenchman made to the club during his eight years in England. Despite already being a World Cup winner when Arsene Wenger secured his services from Juventus in August 1999, it was in North London where Henry made his name as one of the world’s best players.
Henry won two Premier League titles and two FA cups with the Gunners and was an integral member of “The Invincibles” team that won the 2003/04 Premier League without losing a match all season. He helped the club reach the 2006 Champions League final where they narrowly missed out to Barcelona and surpassed Ian Wright’s tally of 185 goals to became Arsenal’s top scorer of all time in October 2005.
When he left to join Barcelona in 2007, Henry was widely considered the best player ever to play in the Premier League. Individually, he won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year twice, the FWA Player of the Year three times and was named in the PFA Team of the Century.
